Guns 'N' Roses

Appetite for Destruction   Use Your Illusion 2  Chinese Democracy

Guns N' Roses (AKA GN'R or GNR) is an American hard rock band from Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. The frontman and co-founder is Axl Rose (real name: William Bruce Rose, Jr.).

They have released six studio albums, three EPs, and one live album and has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide.

The group was formed in early 1985 by two members of the band Hollywood Rose, Axl Rose (vocals) and Izzy Stradlin (rhythm guitar), combining with members of another band, L.A. Guns, Tracii Guns (lead guitar), Ole Beich (bass) and Rob Gardner (drums).

They combined names to create Guns and Roses with the "and" contracted to 'N."

After only a few gigs, bassist Ole Beich was fired and replaced by Duff McKagan while Tracii Guns was booted for missing rehearsals. (They decided to keep the band name anyway.) That led to adding Slash who had played with McKagan in Road Crew and with Stradlin during a short stint in Hollywood Rose. While on a brief West Coast tour, drummer Rob Gardner quit and was replaced by Slash's close friend Steven Adler.

Their 1987 major label debut album, Appetite for Destruction, has sold in excess of 28 million copies worldwide, reached No. 1 on the United States Billboard 200, and had Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including "Sweet Child o' Mine" which reached No. 1.

Spaghetti Incident

A long period with no album releases after The Spaghetti Incident? in 1993 was fueled by rumors of new songs, tours and OCD-like studio antics from Axl. In 2008, Chinese Democracy was finally released.

The Chicago Blackhawks are a professional ice hockey team based in Chicago, Illinois. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Chicago Blackhawks joined the NHL in 1926 as part of the league's first wave of expansion into the United States. They were one of three American teams added that year, along with the Detroit Cougars (now the Detroit Red Wings) and New York Rangers.

The Blackhawks' first owner, coffee tycoon Frederic McLaughlin, had been a commander with the 333rd Machine Gun Battalion of the 86th Infantry Division during World War I. This Division was nicknamed the "Blackhawk Division", after a Native American of the Sauk nation, Chief Black Hawk, who was a prominent figure in the history of Illinois.

McLaughlin named the hockey team in honor of the military unit.

The team name was alternately written "Black Hawks" and "Blackhawks" and in 1986 when the club officially decided on the one-word version based on the spelling found in the original franchise documents.

Three Dog Night

Three Dog Night - 20 Greatest Hits  Naturally The Best of Three Dog Night: 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection (Eco-Friendly Packaging)

Three Dog Night is an American rock band best known for their music from 1968 to 1975. As of 2010, they are still recording and making live appearances.

The booklet included in the CD set Celebrate: The Three Dog Night Story, 1965-1975 states that vocalist Danny Hutton's then-girlfriend June Fairchild suggested the name after reading a magazine article about indigenous Australians. The article explained that on cold nights they would customarily sleep in a hole in the ground whilst embracing a dingo, a native species of wild dog. On colder nights they would sleep with two dogs and if a night was especially cold, it was a "three dog night". It seemed appropriate for a band that featured three lead singer.

Three Dog Night earned 13 gold albums and recorded 21 Billboard Top 40 hits, seven of which went gold. Their first gold record was "One" which had been written and recorded by Harry Nilsson. They had three US number one songs: "Mama Told Me Not to Come", which was also their only Top 10 hit in the UK, "Joy to the World" and "Black and White". Dunhill Records claimed 40 million record albums were sold by the band during this time period.
